Synopsis
Guimba, an 18-year-old orphan, has been working for seven years at the traditional gold mining site of Sonsoribougou and dreams of making his fortune there until the day he meets Yendi. The daughter of the village major, Yendi, an editor for her high school newspaper, is taking advantage of her vacation to write a report on child mining. A series of events brings them together. A brief rapprochement, as the young student quickly returns to her life, but the deep discussions she has with the young gold miner disrupt her plans. He eventually returns to the capital where, after a journey through the desert, he finds the warmth of home and sees a path for art.
