Apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9tudi\u00e9 le droit \u00e0 Paris, il commence \u00e0 \u00e9crire des sc\u00e9narios. Entre 1981 et 1997, Keita a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 cinq courts-m\u00e9trages.<br \/>\nLe documentaire \u201cDavid Achkar, une \u00e9toile filante\u201d (1998) est un hommage personnel \u00e0 un ami d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9. Son premier long-m\u00e9trage \u201cLe fleuve\u201d (2002) re\u00e7oit le Prix de la Presse au Festival du Film de Paris.
